Once upon a time...

Kindergarten spent two wonderful weeks learning about fairy tales. We read a handful of different fairy tales: Jack in the Beanstalk, Princess and the Pea, Little Red Riding Hood, Little Red Hen, Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the list goes on.

The students had fun learning about characters, setting, problem/solution, fiction/nonfiction, and much more. I created lessons that stretched across all the subjects. We did a fun math problem using mattresses and peas that went along with the story The Princess and the Pea. We measured ourselves on a beanstalk based around the book Jack and the Beanstalk.

At the end of the week the students had a fun day dressing up like fairy tale characters. We had students dress up like the pigs, a wolf, little red riding hood, princes, princesses, kings and queens.
