Letter M fun

For the Letter M we had a lot planned. Monday we read the book If You Give A Mouse a Cookie. We made cookies, then we learned all about punctuation. We found the different types of punctuation in the story. We made punctuation cookies for us to use when we dictated sentence. Tuesday we read the book If You Give a Moose a Muffin. We made muffins, then we did math problems with muffins, and found punctuation marks. Wednesday we read the book Go Away Big Green Monster. We wrote about our monster that we created. Thursday we read the book The Magic Hat by Mem Fox. Then the students drew a picture of what the magic hat turned them in to. Students then built their sentence. Friday was M&M day! We wrote about which M&M color we like best. Then we tasted 4 different types of M&Ms. After we tasted the different types we graphed which one we liked best.

More Winter Fun

We read the book The Mitten and The Hat. The students then completed their own writing page for a class book. They filled in the blanks and then illustrated their picture that matches their writing.

The second week of winter was spent learning about what animals do in the winter. Here is the tree map we made about what animals do during the winter days.

Students then wrote about one animals in the science journal. They drew a picture of the animal then wrote what it does during the winter.

Students also drew a picture of an animal. Then we measured how long the animal is. Students used unifix cubes to measure the length of their animal. Then students wrote down how many cubes long their animal was.
